How to Use a Web Page as a Template Using Netscape Communicator

This page reviews the use of Netscape Composer version 7.x (which is included with the Netscape 7.x browser) to edit/modify any web page from the Interent (e.g., http://www.umuc.edu).
Netscape 8 does not include Composer. You can, however, still download Netscape 7 from Netcape's archive page.)
- Go to the Web Page in your Netscape Browser.
- Select File --> Edit Page (This opens the file in Composer).
- Edit the page appropriately using the Composer Toolbar features (put in the Class name, your name, email address, hours, etc)
- Select File --> Save As
- In the dialog box, click on "New Folder" icon
(yellow folder
at
top right). - Name the folder (such as "read_me_first" or "course_guide) be sure to use underscores instead of spaces
- Double-Click on the folder you have just created to open it.
- Click on Save. (This will save all images in your new folder).
- FTP the folder and all its contents to your polaris account. (See the Tech Skills/Software category, if you need instruction on setting up Polaris accounts or FTPing.)
